		<description>Android isn&#039;t bound by anything. The phones you buy from the carriers are. Don&#039;t buy a phone from your carrier, and you don&#039;t get a phone molested by them. 

I can get any unlocked Android phone, put it on my carrier, and tether away, and download any apps I want. Meanwhile, the iPhone locks me out of tethering unless the operator has explicitly OKayed it with Apple, and I can&#039;t download apps or podcasts over 20 MB over 3G since AT&amp;T have a crappy network (nevermind I never set foot in AT&amp;T coverage).

Apple are happy to bend to the will of the carriers as well, they just resist the stuff that they find tacky (like animated boot screens and crappy bundled apps).</description>
